I feel that the power of my paintings come from what is inside me, not just from outside influences. For me, a painting is an image with a body and that body contains its spirit. I often begin my paintings by journaling or writing inspirational words on the canvas as a way to set the intention for the painting. In this process I take what draws me to the beauty of nature and human experiences and bring it to the canvas by using my own voice.
